Rockstar Distances From 'Red Dead Online' To Focus On 'Grand Theft Auto 6'

Video game giant, Rockstar Games, has announced that it will not be releasing any major content updates to 'Red Dead Online' in order to focus their resources on making 'Grand Theft Auto 6'.

According to an update posted on Rockstar's website, it has been confirmed that they have been planning to reallocate their resources away from 'Red Dead Online' in order to make the highly-anticipated 'Grand Theft Auto 6'. Rockstar has also stated that they have steadily been moving their resources for the past few years in order to prepare for this. This steady transition might explain why 'RDO' has been lacking in content updates when compared to the more popular 'Grand Theft Auto Online'.

"Over the past few years, we have been steadily moving more development resources towards the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series — understanding more than ever the need to exceed players’ expectations and for this next entry to be the best it can possibly be — and as a result, we are in the process of making some changes to how we support Red Dead Online."

The update continues to detail what Rockstar has planned for 'RDO' in the immediate future. While the game will receive small updates in the form of seasonal events, quality improvements, and new Telegram Missions, it will not receive major themed updates as it did in years prior.

"Alongside seasonal special events and experience improvements — plus other changes to enhance and maintain a healthy Red Dead Online environment — we plan to build upon existing modes and add new Telegram Missions this year, rather than delivering major themed content updates like in previous years, and we will continue to highlight and share the creative efforts of our Red Dead community at every opportunity via the Newswire and beyond."

While many gamers see this reallocation of resources as necessary for the quality of 'GTA6', many 'RDO' players lament the news. According to an article posted by Push Square, 'RDO' players will be hosting a funeral for the game on July 13th, 2022. Exactly one year after it's last major content update. Those playing the game that day are invited to "dress up in your best funeral attire, and get your friends to join".

It is our hope here at Ready Set Lag that once the development cycle for 'GTA6' is over, that Rockstar will finally give 'RDO' and it's player base the love and attention that they deserve. The passion and dedication that the players have for this game is second to none and it should be recognized and respected by Rockstar in a way that the fans will appreciate.
